Half Nester by Dr. Valerie Woo

The app

Keep Half Nester™ one tap away.

You are not failing. The season has changed, and the rhythm that once carried you may no longer fit. What helps is having somewhere steady to return to, and being able to get there without hunting for a browser tab.

Half Nester is the everyday digital home for guided practice, reflection, connection, and return. Put it on your home screen and it sits beside your other apps, ready when you are.

First, the honest part.

It is a web app, not an app store download.

There is nothing to install from the App Store or Google Play, because there is no Half Nester app there yet. What you are adding is this site, wrapped so it opens like an app.

Same account, same everything.

You sign in with the email you already use. Your lessons, your workbook, your reflections and the community are exactly where you left them.

It opens straight to your dashboard.

No address bar, no hunting through tabs. If you are signed out, it asks you to sign in once, then remembers.

You still need a connection.

Adding the app does not save lessons for offline reading. It changes how you get here, not what happens when the signal drops.

Step by step, by device.

Find yours below. Each one takes under a minute, and none of it is permanent.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open my.halfnester.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button, the square with an arrow pointing up.
  3. Scroll down the list, tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.

What happens: The icon lands on your home screen. It also becomes searchable in Spotlight and shows up in your App Library, like any other app. It does not appear in the App Store, because it is not an App Store app. Apple gives no one tap install for web apps, so this one is done by hand.

Android

  1. Open my.halfnester.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the button above, or open the menu at the top right, the three dots.
  3. Choose Install app, then confirm.

What happens: Android genuinely installs it. It lands in your app drawer alongside your other apps, and you can drag it onto a home screen. Uninstalling works the way it does for anything else.

Mac or Windows, in Chrome or Edge

  1. Open my.halfnester.com in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the button above, or click the install icon at the right of the address bar.
  3. In Edge you can also open the menu, then Apps, then Install this site as an app. Confirm Install.

What happens: It installs as a real app window, with no tabs and no address bar. On a Mac it appears in your Applications folder and in Spotlight. On Windows it appears in the Start Menu. You can pin it to your dock or taskbar and open it like anything else.

Mac, in Safari

  1. Open my.halfnester.com in Safari 17 or later, which comes with macOS Sonoma.
  2. Click the Share button in the toolbar.
  3. Choose Add to Dock.

What happens: It opens from your Dock in its own window. Older versions of Safari do not offer this, so use Chrome or Edge instead.

What to expect after.

You belong here.

Whether the icon is on your home screen or not, the door is the same one.
