Privacy Policy

Half Nester™ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a course and community created by Dr. Valerie Woo. This policy describes what information we collect when you visit my.halfnester.com or sign up for any of our offerings, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We aim to be honest and minimal. We collect what we need to give you the service you signed up for and nothing more.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Email address— when you purchase the Email Course, sign in to the course library, or contact us.
• Name— when you provide it at checkout (for personalization in emails) or in a contact form.
• Workbook responses— when you save answers to course worksheets.
• Messages you send us via the contact form.

Information collected automatically

• Membership cookie (`hn_member`)— an HMAC-signed cookie set after you sign in to the course library, so you don’t have to re-enter your email each visit. Expires after 90 days.
• Basic request metadata— user-agent string and referring URL when you submit a form, to help us debug issues.
• Server logs— standard infrastructure logs via Vercel for security and performance.

Information from third parties

• Purchase data from Kajabi— when you complete a purchase on our checkout pages (hosted by Kajabi), Kajabi sends us a webhook with your email, name, and the offer you bought, so we can grant you access to the matching content here.

How we use your information

• Send you the Email Course lessons in cadence.
• Grant access to the course library and tier-appropriate content based on what you purchased.
• Save and load your workbook responses across sessions.
• Reply to messages you send us via the contact form.
• Improve the site (debug errors, fix broken pages, understand general traffic patterns).
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do notsell your data, and we don’t share it with third parties for advertising.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small set of trusted services to run the site. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Vercel— hosting and serverless functions (request logs).
• Supabase— database for your account record, paid-tier status, and saved workbook responses.
• Kajabi— checkout, payment processing (Stripe via Kajabi), and the live course content. Kajabi sends us a webhook with your purchase details after checkout.
• Cloudflare Stream— lesson video hosting and playback.
• Resend— email delivery. Our emails to you — the free email course, your reflection-quiz results, and the newsletter — are sent through Resend from the mail.halfnester.com domain.
• Meta (Facebook & Instagram)— if you arrive from a Half Nester™ ad, Meta’s normal ad tracking applies under their policy.

Cookies and similar technology

We use one functional cookie:

• hn_member— HMAC-signed identifier for your course-library session. Strictly necessary; without it the members area can’t recognize you.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies on this domain. If that changes, this policy will be updated and we will surface a cookie banner.

How long we keep data

• Account / lead records— kept for as long as your access remains active. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
• Workbook responses— kept while your access is active so you can resume your work.
• Server logs— rotated by Vercel according to its own retention.
• Membership cookie— expires after 90 days; cleared when you sign out.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from the Email Course at any time using the link in any email.
• Sign out to clear the membership cookie.
• Request deletion— email us and we will delete your account and saved workbook responses.
• Request a copy of the data we hold on you.
• Correct inaccurate data— contact us and we’ll fix it.

Residents of certain jurisdictions (including California, the EU, and the UK) have additional rights under their local laws. We honor those rights; reach out and we’ll help.

Children

Half Nester™ is intended for adults navigating the in-between season of life. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll also email subscribers.
