Half Nester by Dr. Valerie Woo

Community guidelines

How we keep this space gentle.

The Half Nester™ community works because it feels different from the rest of the internet: softer, safer, more honest. That doesn’t happen by accident. Here’s the shared agreement that makes it possible.

01

Real names optional. Kindness required.

Show up as your first name, a nickname, or whatever feels safe: that part is yours to choose. How we treat each other isn't optional, though. Assume good intent, disagree gently, and remember there's a real woman on the other side of every post, probably typing from her kitchen table.

02

What's shared here stays here.

Women tell the truth in this space, about marriages, kids, bodies, grief, money, all of it. That only works if it stays in the room. Don't screenshot, quote, or retell someone's story outside the community. Ever. That promise is the floor this whole room stands on.

03

Post quietly when you need to.

Some things are easier to say without your name attached. Every post has a quiet option: turn it on and you'll appear as "A Half Nester™" instead of your display name. It exists for the tender shares, the ones that need saying before you're ready to sign them. Use it freely, no explanation needed.

04

One photo, chosen with care.

Every post can carry one photo. Keep it kind: your morning walk, the craft room taking shape, the table you finally set for two. Please don't share photos of other people without their blessing. Photos stay inside the community, just like words do.

05

Share experience, not prescriptions.

No medical, financial, or legal advice here, even the well-meaning kind. "Here's what helped me" is a gift; "here's what you should do" is a liability, and neither of us wants that. If something needs a doctor, an advisor, or a lawyer, please take it to one. We'll be here to cheer you on either way.

06

No promotion, no recruiting.

This is the one corner of the internet where nobody is selling you anything. No businesses, links-in-bio, coaching offers, MLMs, or "opportunities", not even lovely ones. If you're not sure whether something counts as promotion, it probably does.

07

The Half Nester™ Guide is always labeled.

You may notice the Half Nester™ Guide in the feeds: an AI companion that offers a warm welcome and keeps a conversation from going unanswered. It is labeled as the Guide every single time it appears, and it never pretends to be a member. The women here are real; the Guide just helps tend the room.

08

If something feels off, say so.

Every post and comment has a quiet little menu with a report option. Use it freely; you won't get anyone in trouble by asking us to look. A human being reviews every flag, by the next morning at the latest. Trust your gut; that's what it's there for.

09

If you're in a hard place, you're not alone.

Sometimes a season carries more than a community can hold, and there's no shame in that. If you're struggling, please reach for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: call or text 988, any hour, any day. Tell someone here too, whenever you're ready. This room will be right where you left it.

That’s it. Nine things, all of them really one thing: protect each other’s trust.
